The love with the Reliance-700 plan has come and gone. I remember taking this connection with lots of happiness in 2005. I was just engaged with a person who was far away and I could see phone bills rocketing sky-high. I knew one of my ex-colleagues at Chennai who used to be on phone 24/7. I called her and got to know about this plan from Reliance with which one could talk non-stop to any other Reliance phone in India for a megre Rs.700/- a month.
It was effectively utilised. Now it has been more than a year and the same girl sits next to me at home. Over the months, all kinds of tax components have also been adding up in the bill and to couple with the non-reliance STD calls that we make, I was shelling out at least Rs.1500/- a month. Realised that it was time for a change!
Last week, taking a bit of courage I surrendered the Reliance connection and went in for BSNL option - Re.1 per minute STD call and Rs.180 monthly rental. I was not dissapointed to see the poor customer service level at BSNL office as there was no positive expectation on the same. And to couple with that I have had a rich "Reliance Customer Care" experiance which has taught me to be calm and positive even at the worst of moments. It was tough to make the BSNL lady speak or answer queries. It was to such an extent that one of my friends went on to ask if she expected any thing in return in order to make her speak. A couple of visits to the counter and finally the application form was accepted. It was a pleasant surprise to see the phone installed and ringing at home within 3 days. The trust with Reliance has gone and the new love for BSNL is born. Nice to hear the "tring tring..."s back.

Service when offered by any governmental organization is just the left-over of its staff, as they don't get paid for the serice they offer, but for the mere existance. Inspite of the mounting competetion, the monopoly still remains reinforcing the "what so ever happens" attitue of its staffs. Privitisation is a good choice for a better service.
